      Patrick Laragy died last evening at his home, 507 Lyell avenue. He leaves a wife and three children. The funeral will be held from the home at 8:30 o'clock Monday morning and from Holy Apostles' Church at 9 o'clock.

    "These records were part of an early attempt to collect vital records in New York State. It was the responsiblity of each Town to collect their own records. It is not known why, but hardly any Towns in New York continued to collect any records after 1850. It wasn't until 1880 that New York began again to keep vital records. A lot of these early vital records have been lost. That is possibly the reason that there are only birth records for part of the year 1848 and no known deaths."
